Angostura Ltd says allegations of sexual harassment made against its chairman, Dr Rolph Balgobin, by a senior female executive have been dismissed.

The board of directors did so on October 26 after an internal investigation.

In a brief statement issued yesterday, Angostura said, “As a result, the investigation is now closed.

The allegations were contained in a whistleblower complaint submitted to the board on November 3, 2016.”

Saying it upheld the highest standards of professionalism and transparency in all endeavours, Angostura added that it was “committed to a policy of treating allegations of sexual harassment very seriously.

“Angostura Ltd will provide an environment to ensure that all our employees are treated with civility, decency, respect and dignity,” the company said.

Contacted by Newsday, Angostura declined to comment further. Calls to Balgobin’s phone went unanswered.
