Mom held with gun

Claiming she received death threats from a man, a 31-year-old mother told Princes Town police she bought a gun to protect herself and young child.

On Thursday night, police arrested the woman after they searched her home at Lengua Road, Princes Town, and found the illegal weapon in a wardrobe. It was a 9 mm pistol and 22 rounds of ammunition.

Checks later revealed she had not made any report of threats in the Southern Division.

Sgt Ramlogan and Cpl Nanan of Princes Town CID led the exercise with the assistance of PCs Ramkissoon and Isaac.

PC Ramkissoon was expected to charge the woman with possession of the firearm and ammunition. Once charged, she will appear in the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
