Imbert, don’t tax Play Whe

THE EDITOR: This is a simple piece of advice for Colm Imbert.

I have no problem with the tax on the gaming industry but that ten per cent tax on Play Whe winnings will do more harm than good.

From my observation and knowledge, most of the punters are simple people. The imposition of that tax will see the revitalisation of the illegal system that already has a foothold. That means your expected revenue will not materialise.

Tax the Lotto and the other online games but leave Play Whe alone. Or, as a compromise, tax winnings over $2,000. It’s all up to you.
