Three killed, several injured in Haiti bus accident
PORT AU PRINCE, Haiti – AT least three people were killed and several others including a two-year-old girl, were injured after two buses collided late Tuesday, the Directorate of Civil Protection (DPC) has said.
It said that the accident occurred on the National Road #1, after a public transport bus connecting Port-au-Prince and Chambellan collided with a tap-tap, a gaily painted bus or pick-up truck that serves as share taxis.
The authorities said that the tap-tap had broken down and that two of those killed including the bus driver and a passenger, succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
The DPC said that at least seven people were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment and that the death toll is likely to increase.
