AFTER being evicted twice within two days, residents of the Petrotrin bungalows in Clifton Hill, Point Fortin have moved out for good.

On Wednesday, several families were evicted after the buildings were allegedly stormed by police and army personnel.

They moved their belongings outside, covering them with plastic and tarpaulins.

But on Wednesday night, the families moved back in as in their opinion, they were not squatting and were doing nothing illegal.

The "landlord" was held by Point Fortin police and remains in custody.

The police returned to the bungalows on Thursday and kicked the families out once more, which one man called unfair as they demanded the release of their landlord.

Speaking with Newsday on Friday afternoon, one former resident said he was “finishing up” with moving out his belongings.

He said when police visited that morning, they were polite and urged them to “leave for real” this time around.

He lives with his wife and four children.

“We getting a little bligh by a friend’s house for now.

“The police came really quiet this time. They just spoke with us to see what was going on.”

Newsday tried to contact Energy Minister Franklin Khan, but calls and messages went unanswered.
