A police officer with eight years' service was granted $300,000 bail on Tuesday when he appeared in court virtually for attempted murder.

PC Rajesh Ramdass appeared before a Port of Spain magistrate for the 2016 shooting of a 37-year-old man.

Ramdass was given an alternative of $15,000 cash bail. The case was adjourned to November 10.

Ramdass is alleged to have shot the man on April 3, 2016 after an argument over whose turn it was to pay for gas at a Debe gas station. Ramdass reportedly shot the man multiple times after the argument became physical.

The investigation was led by Snr Supt Nazrudeen Pragg, head of the Court and Process Branch. Pragg charged Ramdass on the advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
