Retired CJ Kelsick dies
Retired Chief Justice Cecil Arthur Kelsick,TC, has died. He was chief justice from 1983-1985.
A statement from the Judiciary yesterday announced Kelsick’s death but did not elaborate on the cause.Chief Justice Ivor Archie also extended sincerest condolences to Kelsick’s children and other relatives.
The Judiciary said Justice Kelsick, 97, was remembered for his unwavering championing of an independent Judiciary as enshrined in the Constitution.
He also became the first chief justice to occupy the newly constructed Hall of Justice upon its commissioning in 1985 and was awarded the Trinity Cross in 1985.
Members of the Judiciary, legal fraternity and public are invited to sign the condolence books located at the Supreme Court in Port of Spain, San Fernando and Tobago from Monday between the hours of 10.30 am and 3.30 pm.
