THE daughter of Wilby John, 92, has been waiting 17 days for her father's autopsy to be done, but to no avail.

Speaking with Newsday at the Forensic Science Centre, St James on July 26, Marlene John, said on July 9 her father died the day after complaining of stomach pain.

He was taken to hospital on the night of July 8 and died the next day.

When asked about her father, she smiled and said, "My dad was nice, loving and he was always a provider.

"My dad was so precious to me, I miss him so much."

John, the only girl among her father's children, took care of him in the last seven years of his life.

She said her father had no health complications but would complain from time to time of his stomach hurting.

John believes a male relative repeatedly poisoned her father, resulting in his death.

She said her father's autopsy was delayed because the woman they gave the report to was sick.

The autopsy had not been completed up to July 26 – 17 days after his death.

In cases where someone is suspected to have been poisoned, a toxicology report is done. A source close to Newsday claimed the toxicology lab at the Forensic Science Centre, St James had not been working for four years.

Newsday contacted Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds to ask about the validity of this claim.

Hinds said, "As far as I am aware, that would not be true."

John hopes the autopsy for her father can be completed next week – to get answers about his death.

She said those responsible will not get-away without facing some consequences.

"I’ll leave it to the police and the justice system to run its course.

"I know Daddy was being poisoned."
