Fire Youth, Defence Force to meet in netball knockout finals

Hot contenders Fire Youth and Defence Force will meet in the Courts All Sectors Netball League alternative divisional knockout finals at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sporting Arena in Tacarigua on March 27, from 6.10 pm.

Both teams advanced to the title match after notching convincing wins in their respective semi-finals on March 21.

Fire Youth scorched Police Netball Youth Club (PNYC) 22-6 and Defence Force breached Unit Trust Corporation (UTC) 26-10 to affirm their respective title shots.

Against PNYC, Nathalyia Fletcher scored 14 of her 20 attempts and Thyana Andrews scored six and Olivia Honore two, to surpass their opponents. Chamara Francis was PNYC’s only scorer with six.

Against UTC, Defence Force’s Maria LaFoucade led all scorers with 19 and teammate Empress Pivette chipped in with seven. Scoring for UTC was Arianne Huggins (ten).

Additionally, University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) completed the four semi-finalists of the Jean Pierre Challenge Knockout after getting past Police 74-17.

Jelissa Goodride was in fine form, scoring 58 from 68 and Kaylea Songul picked up 16 from 25 attempts. Scoring for Police were Mya Marie Morris (14), Tamika John (two) and Joniah Beharry (one).

UTT join Metal Industries Company, Bermudez and Defence Force in the penultimate round.
