Venezuelan on sex charges gets bail

A 42-year-old Venezuelan man has been granted $120,000 surety bail charged with four sex offences, including rape, against a female minor.

The accused faced Master Delicia Bethelmy in the Couva Court on February 11. She also granted him a cash alternative of $10,000 to cover the charges.

WPC Rogers-Flemming of the Special Victims Department (SVD) in the Central Division charged him with three counts of sexual penetration and one count of sexual touching against the minor, who is a close relative.

The offences allegedly took place in 2020 when a report was made to the police in the Central Division.

The technician was arrested over the weekend in the Southern Division.

Supt Powder, ASPs Seecharan and Francis, Insp Jacob and Sgt Thompson, all of SVD, led the investigation that resulted in the arrest and charges.
