Truck driver dies in accident

A 38-year-old La Horquetta man was killed after the truck he was driving crashed into a house in St Joseph on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said Lasanna Chalmer was driving a truck on Lennox Phillips Drive in Maracas Gardens, just before 5 pm, when it is believed the truck's braking system malfunctioned causing it to veer of the road and crash into the side of a house.

Investigators said Chalmer died at the scene. The owner of the house was not at home at the time. St Joseph police visited the scene along with officers of the Northern Division crime scene investigation unit. Chalmer's body was later removed from the scene for autopy.
