Petit Valley mechanic gunned down in ambush

A Petit Valley mechanic man was gunned down late Friday night in what police have described as a gang-related killing.

Police said around 11.55 pm Kurt "Daddy Kurt" Charles, 48, was confronted by two gunmen at Ravine Road, Petit Valley.

The men opened fire on Charles, who lived nearby at Pioneer Drive.

Charles was taken to the St James Medical Complex where he died while being treated.

Police said the vehicle taking the injured man for medical help had stalled and he had to be transferred to another vehicle while en route to the hospital.

Investigators said they found 9mm and 7.56 spent shell casings at the scene of the shooting.
