TTFA announces uniform deal with Miami group BOL
THE TT Football Association (TTFA) has announced a two-year deal with Miami-based sports brand BOL, according to a media release which was issued on Thursday.
BOL, which was founded by Eduardo Acordi, Marco Gandelman, and Tiago Pinto, was developed with the belief that sports can generate value and, most importantly, bring people together and develop more caring and inclusive communities.
This deal was the first major apparel deal announced by the Robert Hadad-led FIFA-appointed normalisation committee.
The previous TTFA executive, headed by William Wallace, signed an agreement with British apparel group Avec in February 2020. However, that deal was scrapped by the normalisation committee, who took over the affairs of the TTFA a month later.
Wallace’s predecessor, David John-Williams, had a signed agreement with the Spanish group Joma, whose uniforms the TT men’s team donned during their three inter-national matches this year – the 7-0 defeat to the United States in a friendly fixture on January 31 and the pair of FIFA World Cup Concacaf Zone Group F qualifiers against Guyana (a 3-0 victory on March 25) and Puerto Rico (a 1-1 draw on March 28).
“The apparel brand will begin its process of creating new art-inspired kits that will be released in June to help elevate the Caribbean nation to the next level during the Qatar 2022 qualifiers,” the release said.
Pinto, who is also a former Nike executive, said in the media release, “We want our new kits to exude the confidence, strength and bravery of this team. We believe in celebrating the beautiful game and our hope is supporters around the world will find that same joy through our apparel designs.”
Hadad added, “The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association believes that this new partnership with BOL Football is a great strategic alliance and opportunity. We look forward to working together to develop products that resonate with the hearts of the players, staff, fans and all Trinbagonians.”
This agreement between BOL and the TTFA follows on the heels of an announcement of a deal between the Miami group and the Montserrat Football Association.
“BOL will equally incentivise Trinidad and Tobago for the performance achievements of both the men’s and women’s national teams in order to recognise TTFA’s efforts and vision for the future of all,” the media release continued. “An extensive annual product collection will be provided au gratis and the deal will also include a revenue sharing programme for team branded products sold around the world.”
