Housing Minister distributes 20 home improvement cheques

TWENTY people received cheques on Thursday from the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Pennelope Beckles, under the ministry’s home improvement grant programme.

The release said the distribution ceremony was held at the ministry’s head office in Port of Spain.

In attendance were Minister in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development Adrian Leonce, permanent secretary Claire Davidson-Williams, deputy permanent secretary, Nirmala Ramlogan, programme coordinator Hermian Smart-Findlay, and other ministry officials.

Since 2004, the release said, the programme has assisted thousands of qualifying families across Trinidad to upgrade existing homes that are in critical need of repair.

377 cheques totalling $4,245,100.00, were disbursed in this fiscal the release said.

The minister urged the recipients to use the grant for the purpose it was intended.

The minister also reminded potential applicants about the ministry’s online application platform that eliminates the need for clients to physically visit the ministry’s office in light of the covid19 pandemic.
