MoH: Seven new covid19 cases detected

Seven new cases of covid19 have been detected, with the number of positive cases now standing at 94.

These cases were detected from samples taken between March 7 and 9.

The Health Ministry’s release on Wednesday said the death toll remained at 140 from Tuesday. Since March 2020, there have been 7,743 positive cases, of which 7,509 have recovered.

Ten people remain in hospital, six at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility and four at the Scarborough Regional Hospital, Fort King George. Five people are in step-down facilities at the UWI, Debe campus. There has been one recovered community case.

There are 72 people in home self-isolation, one less than Tuesday’s number.

There are 349 people in State quarantine facilities, ten more than Tuesday. Of these, there are five people at the Chancellor Hotel, 35 at the Cascadia Hotel, 55 at the Regent Star Hotel, 27 at Paria Suites, 40 at UWI, Debe, 37 at Cara Suites, 79 at the Kapok Hotel, 19 at NAPA, 20 at the Home of Football in Couva, 30 at the Tradewinds Hotel, and two at Southern Medical.

The update said a total of 101,043 people have been tested to date, 48,103 of them at private facilities. The number tested on Tuesday was 100,809.
