Queen’s Park brush aside Servivors

QUEEN’S PARK brushed aside Servivors by a 3-1 margin on Sunday, at the Queen’s Park Racquet Centre, St Clair, in a second round tie of the TT (Table Tennis) Champions League.
Javier King, who was later adjudged as the tie’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), needed four sets to defeat Servivors’ Musaahib Newaj 12-10, 11-8, 14-16, 12-10.
Derron Douglas put the Parkites closer to victory in the tie when he whipped Saleem Mohammed 11-8, 11-5, 11-8, but Riad Abasali registered Servivors’ lone success, courtesy of an 11-9, 11-9, 11-4 result over Joshua Maxwell.
However, the hosts were not going to be denied, as Douglas cruised past Newaj 11-5, 11-9, 11-1 to secure the tie.
Queen’s Park stayed first in the seven-team standings, with 28 points, followed by Hillview Renegades (24), WASA (22), Solo Crusaders (20), Southerners (18), D’Abadie Youths and Servivors (14 each).
