Stakeholders in Tobago are optimistic that the island’s tourism product will be enhanced as Tobago’s Main Ridge Forest Reserve has been named the Caribbean Nature Park of the Year in the Caribbean Journal’s Green Caribbean Awards 2019.

According to the journal, the Green Caribbean Awards are meant to “celebrate those who are already working to protect and strengthen this beautiful corner of the world.”

Speaking with Newsday on Tuesday, Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Secretary for Tourism, Culture and Transportation Nadine Stewart-Phillips described the award as an honour, a privilege and an accomplishment for all Tobagonians.

“I am certainly beaming with pride on hearing the great news," she said. “In fact, the award is very timely as we continue in our rebranding efforts to promote Tobago as an eco-tourism destination that is beyond ordinary.”
