Working to give better service in Grande

THE EDITOR: I fully support Minister of Rural Development and Local Government Kazim Hosein in ramping up productivity and providing better service to the public.

We at the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation along the years have been trying our best to adhere to the call but we know that much more could be done which has led us on a drive to motivate our workers by having employee activities such as a birthday club, after-work get-together, interaction activities such as all-fours etc and “bring your children to work” days.

Programmes are being put in place for evening classes for the workers. We are going out to communities with our statutory meetings. We will be having a one-day retreat for supervisors, in so doing making the workers understand the importance of their job. We are also asking the union to come in and “let’s talk.”

I take this opportunity in wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and I look forward to local government reform in 2019.
