Fools with weak minds

THE EDITOR: Presumably because it is the season of giving, there has been a plethora of commentaries warning about the evils of consumerism and how stores (groceries in particular) and advertisements make people spend their money on frivolous, useless and unhealthy items.

Oddly, the writers of these commentaries do not explain how they themselves have become immune to such blandishments or how they spend their money on only essential and important things. But they clearly consider everyone else to be weak-minded fools who have wrong priorities and/or no idea what they really want.
