Take your job seriously

MINISTER of Education Anthony Garcia urged several newly installed school supervisors to take their new roles seriously by providing critical support to the teachers and principals in the schools that they have been assigned, to ensure quality teaching takes place in the classroom.
In a release, Garcia said the school supervisors’ installation took place at the Education Towers, Port of Spain last Thursday. He said the strategic initiative is to further strengthen the education system.
“You must know your role as a school supervisor, your major role is to lend support to the principals to ensure that everything that a principal is supposed to do in the school is done. You are required to give active support to the principals, as the principals themselves, work towards ensuring the effective implementation of the curriculum.”.
Garcia also told the supervisors to be proactive and visit their schools in order to provide feedback to the ministry on issues which affect the smooth functioning of schools.
Dr Lovell Francis, Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, told them to become leaders in the education system by the way they do their jobs. “Your job is to provide leadership and guidance for our principals in carrying out their jobs to ensure that our students benefit from a quality education,” he said.
