Manzanilla man charged with murder of sister-in-law

A Manzanilla man has appeared before a Sangre Grande magistrate charged with the shooting death of his sister-in-law and wounding her 18-year-old daughter and two others at a bar in Manzanilla two Saturdays ago.

Tarran Nannan, 60, a gardener, of Plum Road Extension, is before the court for the murder of Savitri Narine, as well as three additional charges of wounding her daughter Nirrmalaa Narine with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, as well as bar patrons Lucien Brown and Matthew Cuffy.

The incidents occurred on December 9.

Nannan was charged by PC Danny Moonsammy, of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 2, on Friday.

Savitri Narine, 44, was shot multiple times and died at the bar at Plum Mitan Road. Brown, 56, and Cuffy, 58, both of Plum Road Extension, were also wounded.

Nanan is expected to return to court on January 15.
