Manzanilla shooting suspect still in custody

The 60-year-old man who surrendered to police after a shooting incident, which left a 44-year-old woman dead and her 18-year-old daughter nursing gunshot wounds, is still in police custody.

Investigators told Newsday the case file compiled by police has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions who will advise on what, if any, charges are to be laid. Last Saturday, the man was at the bar drinking a beer, then got up, went to his car, and allegedly took out a 12-gauge shotgun and started shooting at the occupants of the bar.

Savitri Narine was killed and Nirrmalaa Narine was wounded.
