Gun find at Vistabella
Police recovered six guns, including an Uzi, as well as more than 500 rounds of assorted ammunition in an early morning exercise yesterday at an abandoned structure at Purcell Street, near Mt Moriah Road in Vistabella.
Members of the Organised Crime Intelligence Unit and the Inter-Agency Task Force went to the location where they made the find. They also recovered eight magazines and a silencer as well as 12.5 kilogrammes of marijuana.
Among the 500 assorted rounds of ammunition were 9 mm, 5.56, 380, 12-gauge ammunition. No one was arrested in the exercise.
Meanwhile police from Couva CID also recovered a revolver, six rounds of ammunition and a Glock selector on Wednesday at about 3 pm. Under the supervision of Sgt Ken Ali, police also arrested a 23-year-old forklift operator. Cpl Ramdial, PCs Baboolal and Gomes and other police executed a search warrant at a house at Rig Road, Claxton Bay where they found the items. Once charges are laid, the man will appear in the Couva Magistrate’s Court.
