27 entrepreneurs get REACH grants
Chief Secretary Kelvin Charles distributed grants courtesy the REACH (Realisation for Economic Achievement) programme on Tuesday with Health Secretary Dr Agatha Carrington saying the social programme has a positive impact on Tobagonians who need financial assistance to becoming small business owners.
REACH falls under the Division of Health. Tuesday’s distribution of grants to 27 persons was the Division’s first for 2017.
Speaking at the event held at the Division’s Head Office on Glen Road, Carrington said REACH was established in 1984 and that $2.3 million have been distributed to over 600 recipients since then.
‘The Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development, in its efforts to improve lives of the citizens who have a good business idea and who require start-up funds, has provided persons with the opportunity to do so,” Carrington said. She said the Division would be monitoring the progress of the entrepreneurs to ensure their goals were met and that support given to overcome challenges.
