Police raid Rio Claro barbershop

Rio Claro Police arrested eight people for drug possession when they raided a barbershop last Friday.

Police sources told Newsday, the raid was conducted during one of the several anti-crime exercises done last week. Rio Claro police officers, led by Inspector Jankee, supervised by Sergeant Beecham Samaroo, Naim Mohammed and Rampersad Mahabir and including PCs Jaikaran,Abraham,Dowrika,Roopnarine,Charles,Ali, WPC Gillead, Sookoo, Farier and other officers searched the barber shop, and found a quantity of marijuana.

The eight people arrested are expected to be charged and put before a Rio Claro Magistrate during the course of this week.

Rio Claro police also issued over 60 tickets and arrested over 21 people for various offences including drug possession, warrants, robbery, driving under the influence of alcohol and other minor offences.
