Brothers in court

STACY MOORE

Two brothers yesterday appeared the Princes Town magistrates court, one charged with the murder of a soldier and the other charged with wounding another man at a wake in Moruga almost two months ago.

Vincent Brown and 30-year-old Victor Brown appeared before Magistrate Michelle Maharajh-Brown.

The charges read to Vincent alleged that on September 4, he murdered Cpl Marcus Gay of the TT Regiment, wounded another man with intent to do him grievous bodily harm and illegally having in his possession a gun and ammunition. Victor was charged with assaulting a man and attempting to steal a firearm belonging to a member of the TT Regiment.

Reports are that police responded to a shooting at Dougla City, St Mary’s Main Road. When they arrived, they saw Gay’s body with gunshot wounds.

Attorney Vishan Girwar, who represented the brothers, said Victor lived at Moruga with his common-law wife and their 11-month-old baby. He told the magistrate his clients were also shot during the incident and their wounds were treated but they have had no follow-up medical attention. The case has been adjourned to November 24.
