Moonilal backing Kamla for political leader

Oropouche East MP Dr Roodal Moonilal, who ran against United National Congress political leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar in the party’s 2015 election, says he would support her should she decide to run again.

“I am prepared to support her, assuming she is running again as political leader in the upcoming election,” Moonilal said.

“I think now is a time when the party must bind together, now is a time of unity, now is a time to be extremely focused.” He said the the ruling Peoples National Movement party was on the verge of collapse owing to its failure to manage the economic crisis.

“The government, quite frankly, is on the ropes. It may be a matter of weeks and months before another election is held. The UNC, as the prime opposition party, must be in a position to be solidified and united to confront the People’s National Movement.
