Nadine: Jazz will provide 'sustained benefits'

Secretary for Tourism, Culture and Transportation Nadine Stewart-Phillips has described the 2019 Tobago Jazz Experience as a resounding success.

She further described the event as thrilling, captivating, mesmerising, riveting and memorable.

"The Tobago Jazz Experience is a gem that we will continue to develop to ensure definite enjoyment for all visitors and patrons as well as sustained benefits for the island of Tobago," Stewart-Phillips said.

She praised the Tobago Festivals Commission, its executive chairman George Leacock, and staff at her division for executing the event.

The three-day event, which ended on Sunday, saw performances by both local and international artistes, including Leandra, Stephanie Lewis, Adana Roberts, Vaughnette Bigford, Sharlan Bailey, Caleb Hart, Olatunji, Marcia Griffith, Busy Signal, Toni Braxton and Michael Bolton.

Stewart-Phillips said she was pleased the Jazz in the East in Speyside, on Saturday, was not affected negatively by the implementation of the admission fee and thanked local, regional and international patrons for their unwavering support.

She also thanked stakeholders, including the TT Police Service, for ensuring the festival was a wonderful experience.

The Tobago Jazz Experience saw thousands of patrons flock to three main events across the island: Jazz on the Waterfront (Scarborough Esplanade); Jazz in the East (Speyside) and International Night at Pigeon Point Heritage Park.
