Mela Caribe evokes love, euphoria with new music video

Singer and songwriter Mela Caribe has announced the release of her newest music video for her hit song, Dream.
The artiste said she hopes the video evokes love, togetherness and euphoria.
“I wanted the video to feel surreal. I wanted a lot of ‘oohs-and-aahs’ moments. I wanted the video to feel different…to be colourful. And most importantly, I wanted it to be an extension of the song because that is essentially what a music video is.”
Mela Caribe said Dream is an electronic dance music (EDM) and soca fusion song, produced by international DJ and music producer, Ryan “DJ Private Ryan” Alexander.
DJ Private Ryan told Newsday via a WhatsApp message that he was excited for the release of the Dream video.
“This song is very special as it is an uplifting world soca fusion track that pushes the boundaries of our music. Mela is a multitalented writer and performer and it has been a pleasure bringing this signature song to life.”
The singer echoed the producer’s sentiments, saying, “The song is a soulful, meaningful project so I just wanted to show that. To show this dream.”
She said the song resonated with a lot of people which also motivated her to create the music video.
“I just want them to see the video and experience the bliss that it brings.”
Mela Caribe said she had very ambitious dreams for her video and her production team, 3am Productions, worked tirelessly to make her dreams a reality.
“They were responsible for taking my vision and bringing it to life. And it was a lot of work because this was a live video shoot, meaning that we did not do a set in a studio. We built a set in nature and with nature, you always have to consider wind, rain, thunder and lightning and we experienced all of those!
“The sleepless nights…having to prep to go Down D’ Islands just to get one shot…The pressure was a lot! This was a very ambitious video and there were so many emotions. My videographer got physically sick on one of the days of the shoot and we still managed to get it done. We lost footage and had to reshoot and we still got it done.”
She said she hopes people see her vision in this music video. “I want people to see the extra mile that I take to execute my vision. This is really a step up from where I was, and another step in the direction I am headed towards.”
Mela Caribe said she is grateful for all the love and support she has received from her fans and the support she continues to receive from her producer and mentor DJ Private Ryan.
“He (DJ Private Ryan) loved this song since the day we recorded it. You know you have a hit when before the glitz and glamour is added to it and it is in its raw state, you can still feel the emotions that connects you to the song.
“He believes in this project, hence we went the extra mile and made this video. We are both hoping we get international collabs with this song and that an EDM producer like Major Lazer or Diplo could hear Dream and they want to use the song in their mix and spread it across the globe.”
The Dream music video went live at 10 am on October 20 on DJ Private Ryan’s Youtube platform via the link:
