Relax tint rules to cope with heat

THE EDITOR: The heat is taking a toll on us all in many ways. I am therefore appealing to Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan to relax the vehicle tint regulations to cope with the searing heat.

There was nothing wrong with the tint in the first place. It became unnecessary because the Government wanted to project the image that it is doing something to fight crime, obviously by inconveniencing law-abiding citizens.

Anyway, the anti-glare band overlay on the front windscreen can be returned to 12 inches from six inches thick and to 50 per cent visible light transmittance. This is so that our steering wheels, dashboards and thighs wouldn’t be simmering.

Also, allow the driver and passenger windows to have a tint of 25 per cent visible light transmittance and each rear window and rear windscreen a tint of 15 per cent visible light transmittance, instead of 35 per cent and 20 per cent respectively, as currently obtains.

Mr Minister, please help the people.
