THE EDITOR: Gary Griffith and his NTA party joined in an accommodation with Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s UNC to fight the local government elections. The population was led to believe the parties would retain their separate identities, but we are now seeing the NTA appearing alongside UNC candidates in walkabouts. It has reached the stage where Griffith is the main speaker in areas his party is not even contesting.
Is this the first sign of Griffith moving to take over the UNC since he seems to be very close to operatives in the opposition party? He certainly appears to be more visible and vocal than the ageing Persad-Bissessar.
Has Persad-Bissessar recognised this play and has now brought back her former attorney general to stave off any challenge?
The intrigue has begun.
