West Indies Academy beat Team Headley in Tri-Series

West Indies Academy opened their Headley Weekes Tri-Series campaign with a seven-wicket win over Team Headley at Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua on Friday.

Kevlon Anderson’s stellar knock of 153 runs in the first innings, partnered with outstanding bowling from fast bowlers Nyeem Young (3/17) and Kelvin Pitman (3/27) in the second innings, were the main contributors in their victory.

After Team Headley were dismissed on day one for 259 (70.4 overs), boosted by 136 not out from Joshua Da Silva, West Indies Academy responded with 323 (94 overs) on day two, for a lead of 64 runs.

Team Headley returned to the middle and were rattled for 122, which set up an easy victory target of 59 for the academy squad.

West Indies Academy cruised to 59/3 after 19.4 overs, led by Keagan Simmons’ unbeaten knock of 31 and Anderson’s 14.

On Wednesday, the tri-series continues with Team Weekes up against West Indies Academy at the same venue.
