Chaguanas woman still missing

FOUND: Yaseem
FOUND: Yaseem "Jasmin" Kadir. -

With police investigators unable to shed light on the whereabouts of 62-year-old Yaseem "Jasmin" Kadir, relatives are praying for her safe return.

"We are in the dark just like everybody else in terms of what is going on and where she is," Kadir’s worried son said on Wednesday by phone. "All I am doing is hoping and praying that my mother reaches home safe. That’s all."

The mother of two, who lives at Charlieville in Chaguanas, is reported to have been kidnapped for ransom. Reports are a male kidnapper called a relative in Tobago late Monday night, demanding $450,000 for her safe release.

Since then, all calls to her cellphone have gone unanswered.

On Tuesday afternoon, worried relatives reported what had happened at the Chaguanas police station.

Kadir, a security officer with Guardsman Security, works at Oasis Gardens in Endeavour, but changes locations from time to time.

She left home on Sunday morning for work. Colleagues last saw her at Main Road, near Busy Corner in Chaguanas, where a taxi dropped her off. She was wearing her uniform.

Anti-Kidnapping Unit and Chaguanas police are investigating.

People with information about Kadir’s whereabouts can call 999, 555, 911, 800-TIPS or contact any police station. They can also text/WhatsApp the Commissioner of Police at 482-GARY or make a report via the TTPS App.
