Chaguanas man, 75, missing, furniture, appliances gone
MYSTERY surrounds the disappearance of a partially blind 75-year-old Chaguanas man who has been missing for six days.
Police who visited the Gaston Street home of Irwin Frederick discovered an empty house with all his furniture and appliances missing.
Investigators said only Frederick's five dogs were at the house.
A police report said Frederick was last seen at home last Tuesday night by neighbours.
On Wednesday morning, relatives who went to his home to drop off breakfast, as they were accustomed to doing, discovered he was missing.
Frederick’s niece Carmilli Frederick said the windows and a door were open and she assumed that her uncle might have stepped out.
She left and returned that night. She called out to her uncle and received no answer.
“This was when I knew something was definitely wrong.”
With other relatives, she went into the home and were shocked at what they saw.
"My uncle was not here and inside his house was empty."
Carmilli said she then went to the homes of her uncle's neighbours to ask if they had seen him that day. They all reportedly said they had not seen him since Tuesday night.
Investigators who have since searched the house for clues and fingerprints believe Frederick disappeared between Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
Carmilli said, “My uncle is not the type of man to just pick up himself and pack his things and disappear. In one of his eyes, he can't see well. This is why I started cooking for him.
"Everything in his house is gone – all his appliances, furniture, everything has gone. The house is empty. This, his home, these dogs, were his life.
"Something is wrong and I really hope the police can find him. I really don't know what to think, but I am begging, please, whoever has my uncle, please don’t hurt him, please send him home to us.”
Carmilli said for the past six days she and other relatives have been going to the house to feed and clean his dogs, which her uncle loved.
“Sometimes I just hope when I go to his home he will be there. I miss him so much.”
Chaguanas police are investigating.
