PC in Sangre Grande court charged with raping minor

PC Kevin Dattoo appeared before a Sangre Grande magistrate charged with four counts of sexual penetration of a minor and one count of rape.

The magistrate granted him $150,000 bail with a surety, a release from police on Wednesday said.

Police arrested Dattoo on Tuesday after investigations found he was allegedly involved with the then 17-year-old girl.

Now 19, the woman reported to the Professional Standards Bureau that they had a relationship from June-November 2018. Between September and October 2018, Dattoo had sexual intercourse with her four times.

The girl was not yet of legal age, as evidenced by her birth certificate which said she was born in December 2000.

Eastern Division police contend that in March 2019, Dattoo took her to a hotel, where he also had intercourse with her without her consent.

The magistrate postponed the case to December 17.
