[UPDATED] Miniso opens at Westmall

MINISO opened its doors at the Falls at Westmall on April 26. This is the brand’s flagship store and the largest of three branches in the country.

The luxury variety store offers cosmetics, household items, toys, jewellery, body care items and original merchandise from Disney, Hello Kitty, Peanuts and much more.

Marketing manager of the First Retail Group, Alana Gopaul, said the brand is attractive to customers because of its affordable prices and excellent-quality items. She described the store as having something for everyone.

Despite not having any opening-day deals, the store's aisles were packed with people of all ages filling baskets and stopping to take photos with Peng Peng, the brand's mascot.

She said, “We do giveaways from time to time, we did giveaways when we opened at Gulf City but now we know that people know the brand and they love the price point. That is the number one thing they talk about; that it is affordable. They love to come in here. The deal is already baked in.”

Samanatha Conyers, the company’s chief experience officer said the brand is well loved because of its customer friendly prices and wide variety.

She said, “What is a lot of fun about the brand is that we get different stock almost twice a week and every time we stock the stores we bring something a little bit different. Another thing you will notice is that about 75-80 per cent of the store is below $100.”

She said the brand is committed to fostering an exceptional customer experience.
Customers at the opening were very impressed with the range of products offered at the new location.

Shantal Grant said, “I went to the Gulf City branch and they did not have a lot of supplies so I was very excited to come here and see all the good stuff. I bought stuff for my children like pens and notepads and a coffee scrub and nose strips for myself.”

Eight-year-old Coryn Clarke said, “I am very excited for the store’s opening. I have been to the Trincity store but it was a lot smaller. Today I got a lot of stuff: plushies, sunglasses, nail polish, stationary and lip balm in a cute honey pot. I also got some matching stuff to share with my friends.”

Leanda Millet said, “I got a back rest for my chair, keychain and a brush for my dog. I didn’t get a lot of things because I just ran away from work but I would definitely be back to check out more things”

This branch will be open on Monday to Saturday 10 am-7 pm and on Sundays from 1 pm - 6 pm.

Gopaul said the brand will continue its expansion by opening stores at East Gates Mall and a branch at Piarco airport in the future.
