Ministry reports another covid19 death

AN elderly woman with co-morbidities is the country's latest covid19 death, bringing the overall toll to 56 as of Tuesday morning. The Ministry of Health announced this in its 10 am daily covid19 update.

In addition there were 42 new cases confirmed from samples taken between September 4 and 14. This figure is not representative of the cases over the last 24 hours. There are 2,329 active cases.

There are 100 patients in hospital, 126 in step-down facilities and 2,061 in home isolation. The patients at home are being monitored by  county medical officer of health offices. The 42 new patients will be processed for administration by their CMOs.

Out of the 100 hospitalised patients, the release said, 75 are at Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility, four of whom are in the Intensive Care Unit and six in the High Dependency Unit. Four people are at the Arima General Hospital and 22 are at Caura Hospital.

Out of the 126 patients in step-down facilities, 71 are in UWI's Freedom Hall, five are in UWI Debe campus and 50 at UWI Canada Hall. No one is being held at the Brooklyn Facility, Sangre Grande, Balandra, Tacarigua, or the National Academy of the Performing Arts.

The number of samples submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), UWI and other local sites for testing is 27,621. The number of unique patient tests completed is 24,578 and repeated tests are 3,043.

The total number of cases is 3,183, of which 2,329 are active.

To date 798 people have been discharged.
