PTSC issues guidelines for commuters

THE PUBLIC Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) has issued guidelines for commuters from Monday as public transportation reverts to 100 per cent passenger capacity in keeping with the Government’s relaxation of covid19 restrictions.

The PTSC has advised of preventative measures in accordance with the Ministry of Health guidelines.

According to the PTSC, tickets will be torn by passengers in clear view of drivers and disposed of in the bin provided; all buses will be fully sanitised before and after each trip - this involves cleaning of high-touch areas such as stop buttons, hand rails and grab straps.

PTSC said this is in addition to normal cleaning arrangements.

There will be adequate hand sanitiser dispensers and wash stations for all commuters boarding buses at terminals and commuters are being asked to stand six feet apart as they line up to board the bus.

The wearing of masks is mandatory on board all buses and everyone, all employees, visitors and commuters, will be scanned for high body temperature using infrared thermal scanners at all PTSC’s premises.

The corporation also advised that tours and charters have been suspended until further notice and commuters who display flu-like symptoms are asked not to use the service.

“The corporation is pleased to welcome back all our commuters and will continue to keep the public apprised of any new safety measures to be adopted. We remain committed to providing a safe, reliable and cost- effective bus transportation service across communities,” PTSC said in a release on Sunday.
