We must prepare for the worst

THE EDITOR: The precautionary measures taken to prevent the unholy spread of the covid19 pandemic are worthy of recognition.

This virus puts us in a position to evaluate ourselves in terms of our readiness to handle a worse life-threatening situation which could assail our nation at any given time.

We cannot rule out the mutation of viruses, the possible arrival of Ebola to our shores, earthquakes of alarming magnitudes, hurricanes, tsunamis and the effects of war.

We can no longer wait for something to occur to then prepare to deal with it. Let us always find ourselves in a constant state of readiness so that we would be better able to cope with the worst that is yet to come.
