Ezekiel Clarke says while he is still grieving over the murder of his 25-year-old son Akeem Clarke, he is willing to forgive his killers and move on with his life. The younger Clarke was shot dead while playing cards at his Ste Madeleine home on Tuesday night.

Speaking with Newsday at the Forensic Science Centre, St James on Wednesday, Akeem’s father said he placed his grief in the hands of God and was willing to forgive his son's murderer.

"May God rest my son's soul. To the killer and all accomplices, they are forgiven. Everything I am going to place in God's hands. This will just make me stronger in my drive together with the TTPS, because I am the president of the Couva police station council. This will further strengthen my drive to bring peace, strength and harmony to bring some goodness and hope.

"Thus far we need the hope because the youths are just killing off each other."

Clarke said he did not know why anyone would want to kill his son, but suspected his killers may have been envious of him in some way.
