Take the war to the criminals

THE EDITOR: With our murders for the year gone past 300 this is raising great concern with everyone in the country. Despite efforts by the TTPS the criminal elements continue with their lifestyle fearing no one and sending an indirect message “we are in charge”. Our country is under siege by this minority where venturing outside needs to be done with precaution. It is sad where we have reached as a nation our once beautiful twin island is now infested with crime which is being publicised all around the world.

I would like to suggest to the Minister of National Security Mr Stuart Young and the CoP Gary Griffith to seriously consider limited curfew in those crime-prone areas. There must also be heavy joint patrol by the TTPS/Army throughout the night with raids that are based on proper knowledge “take the war to the criminals” This should be for maybe a period of three to six months until crime comes under control.

We must try new methods until change is brought about in the area of crime in Trinidad and Tobago. In my humble opinion this is everyone’s business for crime is not limited to any sector of society in our country. It can be at your doorstep at anytime. I do hope that those people in charge will consider the above suggestions
