THE HUSBAND of Candy Mc Intyre, in a brief conversation with the Newsday, said the media was misinformed on the circumstances surrounding her death, at the Forensic Science Centre in st James on Friday.

The husband, who did not wish to be named, told Newsday Mc Intyre was not in witness protection.

Both the husband and the police are now trying to find a motive behind the shooting.

According to reports, Mc Intyre – a mother of four – was standing outside the Green Meadows Banquet Hall, Santa Barbara Boulevard in Santa Cruz on Tuesday, with her son who had just graduated when gunmen approached in a white Nissan AD wagon and shot her several times. The young boy was seen hugging his mother’s dead body and wailing, while gunmen escaped.

The husband said he was going to pick the two up when he heard his wife was killed.

“The last conversation I had with her was on the phone. I called her and said I was coming. The next thing I know I am getting another call saying that she was killed. She was a loving wife.”

The husband said they had been married for seven years.

The husband told Newsday his son who witnessed the shooting is now being taken care of while relatives come to terms with Mc Intyre’s death and make arrangements for her funeral.

“He is now getting to understand what happened but he is doing alright,” the father said.

Newsday was told Mc Intyre would be laid to rest tentatively on Wednesday.
