Carapo man gunned down

RELATIVES of Saeed Williams, a 30-year-old construction worker, were left with many unanswered questions after he was gunned down off the Carapo main road on Thursday night.

Williams was standing near a bar when he was attacked and shot by two assailants. He is reported to have died at the scene. At the Forensic Science Centre in St James yesterday, a relative said, “Saeed was a cool and humble fellah,” as he expressed shock over the slaying.

“As far as I know, he wasn’t involved in anything. He is not known to the police or anything and his murder has left all of us baffled.”

Relatives were told Williams was standing near the bar when he saw two men walking towards him. When he saw one of them pull out a gun, he started to run.

“He ran into a yard and they started to lick shots behind him. He fell down in the yard and the ran up to him, stood over him and shot him some more.”

A relative said that just before 9 pm, he received a call that Williams was killed. Up to press time there were no arrests and police had no motive.
