Baby Zuri died of asphyxiation: No foul play suspected

Staff at a daycare centre were cleared of any wrongdoing when an autopsy conducted this morning concluded that six-month-old Zuri Cedeno died of asphyxiation.

Investigators confirmed the toddler appeared to have died of natural causes and do not suspect foul play was involved in her death.

Newsday visited the Forensic Science Centre, St James, and attempted to speak to parents, who declined to comment.

Police said they were called in when staff at the El Soccorro daycare centre, where Zuri was cared for found her unresponsive after a nap.

She was taken to the Barataria Health Centre where she was declared dead on arrival.
