Police Commissioner Gary Griffith this morning confirmed that while a police exercise was conducted at the home of the maid of former Attorney General Anand Ramlogan, he was not informed of it before hand.

He said he expects to have information on the intelligence and reason for the exercise before midday.

Speaking with Newsday, Griffith said police did not need to inform the commissioner of every exercise before hand.

"I was never aware of it so I could not have given the authorisation, but the commissioner of police authorisation is not required from me for operations. The Southern Division commander was not made aware of it either. I contacted the woman and she explained to me the situation that developed. I am sending the Southern Division commander to meet with her personally to be able to get more information to verify the facts.
