MAGIC Lady, captained by Michael de Freitas, took the top prize for best boat, when the TT Game Fishing Association (TTGF) hosted its 39th International Marlin Madness, in Crown Point, Tobago.

De Freitas, along with crew members Francois Mouttet, Barry Williams, Christian Hadeed, Isaiah Aleong and Ryan Agard released 15 billfish en route to the best boat title, ahead of six other boats and over two dozen other anglers.

Agard, on the winning boat, was also named the best overall angler, while Luke Frankland, on board Family III, took the best junior angler award.

With their success, the crew of Magic Lady earned the right to represent TT at the Offshore World Championship in Quepos, Costa Rica, next year.

Meanwhile, team Afunday, captained by Adrian De Silva, placed second overall, while Predator, led by Brendan Farfan, placed third.

Some 31 billfish were released, as well as six blue marlin and 25 sailfish.

A total of 229.5lbs of fish, also including dolphin, wahoo and yellow fin tuna, were taken to the scale.

At the prize-giving function, TTGFA treasurer Alan Sheppard thanked the sponsors, including the Ministry of Sport, the Office of the Prime Minister’s Sport and Culture Fund, the Tobago House of Assembly – Division of Tourism, Culture and Transportation, Carib Brewery, Malabar Farms, Reel Tackle & Seafood Ltd, Casfab Ltd, AB Delima & Co, Gatorade and LP Marine & Industrial Services Ltd.
