Police blanked again over sex-ring money

A Port of Spain magistrate has once again denied an application made by police investigators to confiscate $1.5 million that was seized when they arrested some Chinese nationals and rescued 19 Venezuelans last week from a restaurant at Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook.

Chief Magistrate Maria Busby Earle-Caddle yesterday said the application came after the 96-hour period given.

Officers of the Financial Intelligence Bureau are also having a hard time securing an interpreter to interview the five acused while police are still searching for the tenant of a Westmoorings home who was believed to be involved in trafficking the women.
