Single Pan finals on Sunday in Arima
SAN JUAN East Side Symphony playing a Carlon “Panman” Harewood arrangement of Iron Man topped the 47 bands in the Single Pan preliminaries with 274 points.
The finals will take place on Sunday at The Basketball Court, Arima, from 6 pm. Newtown Playboys will open the competition playing Tambu's No No We Ain’t Going Home.
The finalists were announced at the Murchison Brown Auditorium, Port of Spain City Hall on Wednesday. The draw for positions took place yesterday at the National Carnival Commission's (NCC) VIP Lounge, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain.
Adjudicators in this category are: Joslynne Sealey, Dr Audley Timothy, Brendon Moore, Bernadette Roberts, Cuthbert Matthews and Vorbin Cordice.
With its theme, Pan Prosperity…. Feeling the Spirit… Catching the Rhythm, this year’s competition is in tribute to cultural icons calypsonian Winston "Shadow" Bailey, pannist Ken “Professor” Philmore and calypsonian Winston Scarborough who all died last year.
