One dead after Arouca house fire

One man is dead after a fire at a house in Arouca this afternoon.

Sources said neighbours noticed a house at the corner of London Street and Wharton Road on fire at around 2.40.

They extinguished the fire by forming a bucket brigade and tried to get in by breaking a lock, but were unsuccessful.

Officers from the Arima Fire Station went in and found the burnt body of a man, who remains unidentified.

Investigators were at the house up until late this afternoon.

The cause of death and the blaze remain unknown.
