Days after the death, by drowning, of National Drama Association president Edwin Erminy on December 31, the theatre fraternity is again mourning the death of one of its own.

Actor and graphic designer Chris Smith died suddenly this morning. He was 44 and the son of John Smith, chairman of Maritime General Insurance Co. It was only on Wednesday that Chris celebrated his second wedding anniversary with wife Paula Hamilton-Smith – an actress and secondary school teacher. He posted on his Facebook page then: “2 years of life and love. I’ve never known a love like this. Thanks for all who have supported us on the journey.”

He acted in several plays directed by Raymond Choo Kong, and in many films and commercials. In the 2016 film Bazodee, he acted alongside soca superstar Machel Montano who sang at his wedding.
